| The mission
of ART Santa Fe Presents, Inc., a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), is
to further the understanding of contemporary art in Santa Fe,
the state of New Mexico, the Southwest region, and in the United
States through a variety of programs including the production of
events and publications. ART Santa Fe Presents currently sponsors lectures by prominent figures in the art world. Past speakers have included TIME Magazine art critic Robert Hughes in 2003, Metropolitan Museum of Art Director Philippe de Montebello: Museums - Why Should We Care in 2005, and Thomas Krens, Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation: The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao – Frank Gehry Designs a Masterpiece, in 2007. The biennial lecture series is intended to inform and to instigate dialogue about significant issues in the art world today. Future plans for ART Santa Fe Presents include expanding the lecture series to make it an annual event and finding ways to make it available to a larger audience, organizing special museum exhibitions and traveling exhibitions, and publishing books and catalogues on contemporary art and artists.
